Research has shown that the immune and growth factors in
(bovine) cow's colostrum are nearly identical to those in
human colostrum. Since many of bovine colostrum's
components are not species-specific, it works effectively in
humans as well as other mammals.

Once puberty has passed, our bodies begin the aging
process by gradually producing less of the immune and
growth factors that help us fight off disease and heal
damaged body tissue. Colostrum is the only natural source
of these life-giving components. Research has shown that
colostrum not only supports immune function, but can help
enhance fat utilization for fuel and optimize cellular
reproduction). To date, no other substance on the planet
can provide all of these marvelous benefits.

Colostrum is a natural food that has been used for years as a food supplement.

Each person is unique (age, weight, health problems) as to the amount of colostrum needed to
achieve an optimal benefit. Remember, colostrum is a food and can safely be taken in any
quantity.

The collection and processing of colostrum is crucial to the overall quality of the product.
High quality colostrum is never frozen and processed using low heat, electric spray dryers to
ensure maximum biological activity.
Colostrum should be collected from cattle that are 100% pasture fed, and certified to be free of
hormones, antibiotics, pesticides and heavy metals.
Be sure to select colostrum encapsulated with vegetarian capsules which have a very low
moisture content.

There is no evidence that BSE’s (Mad Cow Disease) are transmitted through a cow’s milk or
colostrum. However, to be safe, it is best to choose colostrum from pasture fed cattle since
BSE’s are transmitted when an animal consumes feed that contains body parts from infected
animals. And, while there should not be a reason for concern with gelatin capsules (which are
made from animal parts) it is suggested that you choose colostrum in vegetable capsules, for
maximum safety. New Zealand is recognized throughout the world for their strict dairy standards.
They are listed as a “lowest-risk” country for BSE’s and their colostrum is certified to be free of
BSE and scrapie. Dairy standards in the United States are not as stringent.

We're not aware of any drug interactions. Always consult your health care professional for advice
regarding prescription medications.

I've been taking colostrum for a while but I feel worse. What
should I do? We urge you to ask questions of your health care
professional when undertaking a protocol of supplementation.
A small percentage of people may experience flu-like
symptoms, or have a rash during the first two weeks of taking
colostrum. You may be experiencing what is known in the
natural health community as a "healing crisis". You may wish
to cut back or stop using colostrum for a period of time and
then try again, increasing your use gradually.

Colostrum heals the digestive tract so well that all substances taken internally (food, herbs,
natural healing substances, and medications) will become more bioavailable to the body.
Although colostrum has no known drug interactions, you may find that the other supplements
and medications that you are taking will have a more pronounced effect.

Ask your doctor or medical professional prior to taking any prescription drugs, over the counter
medicines, herbal and nutritional supplements.

Pediatricians recommend that infants, who have not been breastfed, be given colostrum to
supplement their formula. We suggest that you consult with your pediatrician for proper dosage
information. If your pediatrician is not aware of the importance of supplementing with colostrum,
the Center for Nutritional Research can provide him/her with information.

The first colostrum that comes from the cow must be given to the calf- it is essential to the health
and vitality of the newborn and the preservation of the entire herd. Ideally, the calf will be given 3
quarts of first milking colostrum within the first 6 hours and then 2 quarts within the next 12 hours.
Companies that claim “6-hour” or “First milking” colostrum products are simply not telling the
truth. While a cow produces a substantial amount of colostrum, the initial colostrum or “first
milking” contains a significant amount of fat and proteins that must be received by the calf right
away for proper absorption. These factors are most beneficial to the newborn calf, but not neces
sarily as important to humans. Colostrum collected after the first 6 hours still contains all of the
beneficial factors that we value. After about 48 hours, the colostrum becomes transitional milk
and finally full milk at about 72 hours.

Although colostrum is an animal food, it has been an important part of the strict vegan diet of
India's Hindu Rishis (spiritual leaders) for thousands of years. In present day India, the milkman
delivers colostrum to the wealthy Vegans. It's interesting that cows are sacred in India, a country
where vegetarianism is most prevalent.

Colostrum NZ™ is encapsulated within Vegetarian Capsules unlike other competitors who use
gelatin caps which are usually derived from proteins of various parts of a cow.

Generally, people who are lactose-intolerant should experience no problems when taking
colostrum, since it contains little lactose. Also, some lactose-intolerant people have even
reported being able to eat some dairy products after taking colostrum for approximately six to
eight weeks.

Colostrum may help accelerate healing and support the immune response. It is recommended
that you mix colostrum powder (or open a capsule) with a small amount of sterile water or saline
solution and apply it directly to the affected area.

A high level of IgG (immunoglobulin) may be most important
for a newborn calf as it is their sole source of immune
protection at birth; however, for humans taking colostrum as
a supplement, the level of IgG in a colostrum product is not a
benchmark of quality. Although the first milking is higher in
IgG, it is subsequently lower in many other important healing
components, such as lactoferrin and PRP. In order to obtain a
colostrum product that is perfectly balanced, with significant
amounts of at least 90 benefical components found naturally
in colostrum, it should be collected over the first 48 hours.

Absolutely! Cow manure can easily splash onto the udders contaminating them with E-coli,
salmonella and other pathogenic bacteria. This creates the potential for contamination of dairy
products. Dairy products (for human consumption) must be pasteurized to kill these pathogens.
There are two ways of pasteurizing colostrum – the optimal flash (15 second) pasteurization and
a slow 30-minute vat process. Flash pasteurization uses the expensive, high-tech equipment
found in the modern dairy that does not denature the colostrum. With the less expensive, 30-
minute pasteurization process, a huge vat of colostrum is heated from the outside. It takes a
long time to heat a large kettle of colostrum to the required temperature. During this interval,
bacteria grow in the colostrum. As the bacteria feed upon the colostrum, it denatures and
destroys its effectiveness. Most colostrum that is being sold to the public today has been
prepared for the animal feed market and has not been pasteurized. Check the label to make
certain that the colostrum product you are choosing has been flash pasteurized.

You can. It needs to be refrigerated and consumed before it spoils. Raw colostrum is not
pasteurized and contains immune factors from just one cow. This differs from processed
colostrum, which is concentrated and provides a broad base of immune factors that have been
pooled from hundreds and sometimes thousands of cows.

How much money do you spend on supplements and medications that only treat or mask the
symptoms, and do not address the underlying cause? Many of these remedies have the
potential to ultimately weaken the organism. Colostrum not only deals with the cause, while
protecting the body, but also may eliminate any need for future medications. How can you not
afford colostrum?

Quality dairy products, including colostrum, are never frozen because it changes the
composition. This is noticeable with the look and taste of milk when you freeze and thaw it.
Colostrum's effectiveness is greatly changed in this freezing/thawing process. Check to make
sure your colostrum is fresh processed and never frozen.
